Katerina Zajkovska elected member of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption

Katerina Zajkovska has been officially appointed as a member of the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption. Her appointment followed her taking of the oath before the Speaker of Parliament, Afrim Gashi, one week after her election to the Assembly. Zajkovska was elected on April 11 with a simple majority vote, receiving 56 votes in favor and one vote against.

Furthermore, her candidacy was ranked first by the Commission for Elections and Appointments, accumulating 90.67 points. Professionally, Zajkovska holds a degree in economics, complemented by a master’s degree in accounting, finance, and auditing. She was selected from a pool of five candidates who applied for the position.

This appointment marks a transition for the commission, as Zajkovska replaces Cveta Ristovska. Ristovska resigned in February amid public controversy and subsequent investigations conducted by the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption. These investigations reportedly focused on allegations concerning conflicts of interest and the failure to declare assets.

The inclusion of Zajkovska brings new representation to the commission. Her academic background in economics and finance provides a specialized foundation for her duties within the state body.
