The Public Basic Prosecution Office for Organized Crime and Corruption has initiated an investigation concerning an individual suspected of the crime of endangering persons under international protection. The investigation stems from the incident involving the burning of vehicles situated in front of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Skopje. Initially, the case was handled by the Public Basic Prosecution Office of Skopje, which was processing a report to determine the cause of the general danger.
During this process, authorities identified potential elements related to the criminal act of “Endangering Persons Under International Protection.” Consequently, the matter was transferred to the specialized Public Prosecution Office for Organized Crime and Corruption. According to the prosecution’s statement, there is a reasonable suspicion that the suspect deliberately set fire to vehicles belonging to the Bulgarian military attaché on June 15 of this year at the aforementioned location. The investigation is focusing on the act of endangering persons by targeting assets associated with diplomatic missions.
The prosecution’s review indicates that the actions taken constituted more than simple vandalism, suggesting a potential breach of protections afforded to individuals under international safeguards. The specialized office is now examining the evidence to determine the full scope of the charges, emphasizing the gravity of endangering persons in a location designated as protected.
