“Eurothink”: Two-thirds of citizens do not believe in EU membership

Recent data from the “eurothink” research indicates a rise in Euroscepticism among the population of North Macedonia concerning European Union membership. According to the survey findings, approximately 28% of citizens believe that Macedonia will never achieve EU membership. Furthermore, 23.3% of citizens believe that membership could potentially be realized within the next five years.

When questioned about their primary sources of political information, the survey results revealed that television remains the dominant channel through which the majority of citizens receive their news. Analysis of the public sentiment suggests a growing dissatisfaction with the integration process itself. Some citizens perceive the European Union’s approach to the country as unfair, arrogant, and unduly conditional.

This perspective contrasts with a smaller segment of the population who maintain that the current EU approach remains fair and amicable. These findings suggest a notable divergence in public outlook regarding the terms and timeline of integration. The data highlights a segment of the citizenry whose belief in a positive, timely EU pathway is waning, while others continue to hold optimistic views regarding the relationship between North Macedonia and the European Union.

  1. It’s concerning to see such a significant portion of the population losing faith in the EU integration process.
