“Less than 16 hours to prepare,” complains the Iranian coach: Unfair treatment

Iranian coach Amir Ghalenoei expressed significant dissatisfaction following the World Cup, alleging that the Iranian national team received unfair treatment from the tournament organizers and authorities. According to the coach, the difficulties encountered by the squad extended beyond the field of play and directly impacted the players’ performance levels. Speaking to Gazeta Express, Ghalenoei stated that the team felt disadvantaged by the logistical arrangements.

He specifically highlighted a discrepancy in the preparation time provided for the matches. The coach noted that in previous instances, the team had been guaranteed arrival in the United States 24 hours before each fixture. However, for the current tournament, the preparation window was reportedly less than 16 hours.

Ghalenoei elaborated that this reduction in time forced the squad to curtail scheduled training sessions by half. He asserted that the team operated under unfavorable conditions, which he believes negatively affected the overall cohesion and readiness of the squad. The Iranian coach maintained that these external factors contributed to the team’s performance challenges, citing the treatment as being fundamentally unfair.
