Iran’s Chief Negotiator warns the US about statements

Mohammad Qalibaf, the chief negotiator for Iran, issued a warning to the United States regarding its public statements, asserting that the Iranian armed forces are prepared to respond if necessary. Following remarks made by President Donald Trump, the Iranian delegation reportedly staged a protest and subsequently left the meeting venue. During the discussions, a member of the Iranian negotiating team indicated that any talks on unrelated matters would be suspended unless the ongoing conflict in Lebanon reached a resolution.

The tension escalated after President Trump suggested that the U.S. might need to “take control” of the situation if an agreement could not be reached. In response to these statements, Qalibaf addressed the Fars news agency, stating that the Iranian side does not consider the American threats to be valid.

The overall exchange highlighted deep divisions during the talks, with the Iranian delegation expressing significant disagreement with the trajectory of the discussions following the comments from the U.S. official. The standoff underscores the continued diplomatic disagreements between the two nations.
