Pacolli demands investigation from SPAK: Vlorë Airport found damaged

Behgjet Pacolli, the businessman and president of Mabco, announced that his company has resumed operations at the Vlorë Airport construction site after a five-week hiatus. Pacolli stated that the facility had been occupied following what he described as an illegal and violent seizure by groups aiming to gain control of VIA, a company in which Mabco holds a 98 percent stake. According to Pacolli, the reentry to the site was authorized by several official bodies, including decisions from the Shareholders’ Assembly and the High Court.

Furthermore, the return followed official requests made by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the Prime Minister of Albania. During the inspection conducted upon the company’s return, several damages were noted across the terminal and conveying facilities. These damages reportedly affected various components, including information monitors, automatic doors, operational panels, signage systems, and electrical framing.

The development signals a formal resumption of work at the key infrastructure project. Pacolli’s assertion regarding the necessity of the state and judicial backing underscores the legal standing of his company’s continued involvement in the airport development. The incident highlights ongoing disputes surrounding the management and control of the major airport asset, with Pacolli’s company now physically back on site following the reported security issues.
