Disposal of inert waste in containers, KRM Unit in Mitrovica warns citizens

The Regional Waste Company “Uniteti” in Mitrovica has issued a public appeal urging citizens to improve their cooperation and care regarding proper waste management practices. The company specifically addressed the ongoing issue of mixing construction debris with general municipal waste. Through a formal notice, Uniteti highlighted that the improper disposal of inert materials is causing significant operational strain on the waste collection and transport infrastructure.

The notice detailed that materials such as bricks, concrete fragments, windows, doors, and other construction waste are frequently being placed within containers designated solely for household refuse. Uniteti emphasized that this incorrect disposal method presents a substantial challenge to waste processing efficiency. According to the company, the inclusion of heavy, non-biodegradable inert waste directly compromises the integrity and functionality of the established waste system.

This contamination necessitates increased maintenance expenditures and complicates the routine collection process for standard household waste. The weight and composition of the misplaced materials exceed the capacity and design parameters of the municipal containers. Consequently, Uniteti calls for the public’s immediate attention to proper waste segregation.

Residents are advised that construction debris must be managed through appropriate channels and should not be mixed with general household waste streams. Adherence to correct disposal guidelines is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and sustainability of the local waste management services.
