3 million euros for the Green Card, Gërvalla: This is an expression of the state’s respect for the diaspora

The acting Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, announced that the Kosovo Government has allocated financial support for its citizens, approving 3 million euros to cover the cost associated with the Green Card program during the summer period. In a statement detailing the measures taken to support the diaspora, Gërvalla confirmed this funding initiative. Furthermore, she announced a significant policy adjustment effective from October.

Moving forward, emigrants entering Kosovo via private vehicle will no longer be required to pay the supplementary fee for the Green Card. This cost waiver will be absorbed by the state budget as part of Measure 4.5 within the broader Economic Revival Package. Minister Gërvalla emphasized the deep historical significance of the diaspora community, characterizing its contribution as a continuous and vital pillar in the ongoing state-building efforts of Kosovo.

The government’s measures are designed to facilitate the return and integration of expatriates. The allocation of these funds, amounting to 3 million euros, underscores the state’s commitment to supporting its citizens. The revised entry policy aims to remove financial barriers, ensuring that the support provided through the Green Card remains accessible to those entering the country, thereby strengthening ties with the diaspora community.
