The National Food Agency (NFA) has reported a suspected case of food poisoning affecting several students enrolled at the local security academy. Following the initial notification of illness, NFA inspectors immediately commenced verification procedures at the primary catering facility serving the institution, known as SORI-AL, as well as at the premises of the Skënderbej Garrison, situated near the main Armed Forces Academy. According to reports from the NFA, initial assessments conducted at the academy revealed that the general sanitary and hygienic conditions were maintained, and all necessary accompanying documentation was in order.
Despite these findings, the investigation into the suspected food poisoning case remains active. As a critical component of the investigation, a total of fourteen food samples—sourced from both lunch and dinner services—were collected for comprehensive microbiological analysis at the ISUV laboratory. Furthermore, the scope of the inquiry extended to the food processing areas located within the “Skënderbej” Garrison premises, where inspections were also conducted to monitor food handling protocols.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation to determine the source and cause of the reported illness. The thorough investigation aims to ensure public health safety within the military and educational sectors. The NFA emphasized that rigorous testing protocols are being followed to rule out any contamination risks associated with the meals provided to students and personnel at the various security and military sites.
