The Supreme Court rejects the request to re-register the votes of PDK candidates

The Supreme Court of Kosovo has dismissed an appeal filed by Qëndrim Kryeziu, a candidate associated with the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). Kryeziu had formally requested a comprehensive recount of the preferential votes cast for PDK candidates at the municipal level. In its ruling, the Supreme Court affirmed the decision made by the Electoral Appeals and Complaints Panel (PZAP), which had previously rejected Kryeziu’s appeal.

The judicial body determined that the appellant failed to provide clear and convincing evidence to substantiate the alleged electoral violations. Kryeziu’s argument centered on the assertion that a prior recount, which had been ordered by the Central Election Commission, had indicated discrepancies within the initial vote tallies recorded at various municipal counting centers. Based on these perceived inaccuracies, he sought a complete re-examination of the preferential votes attributed to the PDK.

Despite these claims of systemic errors, the Supreme Court concluded that the grounds presented were insufficient to warrant overturning the initial findings or mandating a further, comprehensive recount. By upholding the PZAP’s determination, the Supreme Court effectively closed the appeal process regarding the disputed vote counts, thereby validating the administrative decisions made during the electoral tabulation process. The decision represents the final judicial determination on the matter of the preferential vote review for the PDK.
