Macedonia bans forest movement starting from June 1 due to fire risk

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Waters has announced the implementation of a movement ban within designated forests, effective from October 1st through August 31st. This directive was issued following a request from the national park authority, “National Forests,” and adheres to the provisions of the Forest Law. The measure is necessitated by the elevated risk of fires occurring in open areas.

The ban will be comprehensive, covering the entire 24-hour period, from 00:00 to 24:00, across all territories managed by public enterprises. However, movement remains permissible for individuals who possess valid permits issued by either the National Park “National Forests” or the Ministry of Interior. The ministry clarified that this restriction does not extend to specific types of protected areas, such as national parks or Vodno.

These exceptions allow for continued activity in designated park-forest zones. The enforcement of this ban aims to mitigate risks and ensure public safety within the forests ecosystem during the specified period. All stakeholders are advised to adhere to the established regulations to maintain compliance with national environmental laws.
