New price controls: The Inspectorate will analyze hundreds of consumer goods

The State Market Inspectorate is set to implement enhanced regulatory controls across various consumer goods supply chains. This initiative will encompass an initial scope covering an estimated 600 to 700 different consumer products. The primary objective of these measures is to thoroughly map the mechanism by which the final price is determined, tracking the process from initial supply through to the point of sale.

Furthermore, the program aims to pinpoint specific irregularities within these chains that may be contributing to inflationary price increases. According to the Minister of Economy and Labor, Besar Durmishi, the decision to escalate oversight followed consultative meetings involving representatives from various supply sectors. These discussions also included stakeholders from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Labor, and directors of relevant governing institutions.

Minister Durmishi explained that the analysis will be granular, treating each product as the subject of detailed scrutiny within its entire supply chain. The ultimate goal is to equip regulatory bodies and market authorities with a comprehensive overview of all factors influencing the final cost borne by consumers. By establishing robust controls and analyzing the flow of goods and costs, the Inspectorate intends to enhance market transparency and stabilize the pricing structure for citizens.
