Prime Minister Christian Mickoski strongly criticized the opposition parties, “The Left” and LSDM, for allegedly obstructing agreed-upon changes within the electoral code. Speaking on “Telma,” Mickoski stated that the government had achieved a consensus that integrated all recommendations made by the OSCE/ODIHR. He asserted that the legislative process was being stalled by political maneuvering rather than substantive disagreement.
Mickoski clarified that a comprehensive consensus was reached over the weekend concerning reforms to the electoral legislation. According to the Prime Minister, the final text incorporated demands from various political parties, including specific provisions regarding campaign financing put forward by “The Left.”
He characterized the opposition’s actions as persistent attempts to derail the reform. “What was revealed was the effort of ‘The Left’ to calculate for the millionth time,” Mickoski remarked.
He further accused LSDM of mirroring this behavior, attempting to block the law through filibustering and obstruction tactics. The statements underscore a dispute over the passage of the updated electoral code, with Mickoski framing the opposition’s resistance as purely political obstructionism against a mutually agreed-upon reform package.
