Institutions raise fire alert: Maximum caution during the summer

Security, emergency management, and forest protection agencies within Kosovo have issued heightened warnings regarding the increased risk of wildfires throughout the summer season. The various governing bodies have urged the public to exercise extreme caution and to refrain from any activity that could potentially ignite a fire. During a joint press conference, representatives from several key institutions—including the Kosovo Police, the Emergency Management Agency, the Kosovo Forest Agency, the Kosovo Hydrometeorological Institute, and the Forestry Department—collaborated to disseminate these advisories.

They stressed that any act resulting in a fire, whether deliberate arson or accidental negligence, will be met with serious legal repercussions under current legislation. Gazmend Hoxha, Director General of the Kosovo Police, specified the legal framework governing such incidents. He noted that the Penal Code outlines penalties for fire-related offenses, which can range from six months to one year in imprisonment.

The unified message from these institutions emphasizes proactive public responsibility. Given the environmental conditions and the heightened risk, authorities are appealing to all citizens to take maximum preventative measures. The cooperation between these critical institutions aims to mitigate potential ecological damage and ensure public safety as the season progresses.

The emphasis remains on public adherence to safety guidelines to prevent any uncontrolled fire incidents across Kosovo.
