The Ministry of Interior announced today that the “Safe City” system will extend its reach to include drivers transiting through North Macedonia, and penalties for foreign nationals violating traffic laws will be implemented. Minister of Interior, Pançe Toshkovski, emphasized that the primary objectives of this initiative are to enforce compliance with traffic regulations and enhance public safety. During a promotion of the “Quiet Voices” campaign at the Tabanovce Border Point, Toshkovski addressed travelers passing through Macedonia.
He confirmed that the “Safe City” surveillance cameras are fully operational and actively recording instances of traffic violations. Furthermore, Toshkovski stated that the enforcement scope will encompass not only local residents but also foreign citizens transiting through the country. Consequently, foreign nationals will soon be subject to fines for infractions of traffic rules.
This announcement serves as a direct appeal from Toshkovski to all traveling citizens to adhere strictly to established traffic regulations while passing through Macedonia. The measures aim to foster a safer environment for all individuals utilizing the major transit corridors, specifically mentioning Corridors 8 and 10.
