The third edition of the “KAH DRITA” festival is scheduled to commence on April 4th in Junik. The festival promises a rich program integrating art, nature, and deep-rooted cultural traditions, with this year’s focus drawn from transhumance—the time-honored practice of seasonal migration to grazing pastures. Organizers emphasize that the event aims to merge cultural heritage with contemporary artistic expression, spotlighting a practice integral to the region’s identity.
Notably, transhumance was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2023, lending significant global recognition to the tradition celebrated by the festival. The initial day of the festival, April 4th, begins in the area of Valavicë. The schedule for the day includes a workshop titled “Machine VS Human: When to Use AI,” hosted by MADVERSE.
Following this session, children are invited to participate in a dedicated workshop on “Transhumance,” guided by Haja Tocilla. Subsequently, the program is designed to offer opportunities for the general public to engage with the themes of the festival. The entire “KAH DRITA” festival serves as a platform to preserve and showcase the living history embedded within the local community.
By centering its narrative on transhumance, the event not only celebrates the physical movement of livestock but also the associated cultural knowledge, ensuring that this vital aspect of the region’s past remains a focal point for cultural engagement moving forward.
