This weather event is scheduled to commence this Sunday and is anticipated to bring elevated temperatures across several regions, with forecasts indicating peaks reaching up to 42ºC within the river valleys of the southwest quadrant. The agency projects that the extreme weather conditions are expected to persist at least until Tuesday.

According to data released by the agency, the temperature pattern will escalate gradually. On Monday, specific forecasts detail varying maximums across the continent. The Minho valley is predicted to experience temperatures between 38–40ºC, while the interior of A Coruña is expected to see readings of 37–39ºC.

In the broader southwestern quadrant, maximum temperatures are forecast between 39–41ºC, rising to 42ºC in the river valleys. Meanwhile, the southern coast, the Ebro valley, and northern depressions are projected to record temperatures ranging from 37–40ºC. It is important to note that, according to AEMET, the peak intensity of this heatwave will not be reached on Monday, but rather is anticipated to occur on Tuesday.

The agency continues to monitor the situation, advising the public to prepare for sustained periods of high temperatures throughout the duration of the weather episode.
