IPK’s report reveals numerous problems at the detention center in Rahovec

The Police Inspectorate recently conducted an inspection at the detention center located within the police facilities in Rahovec, revealing multiple concerns regarding safety and sanitation. The facility, which houses individuals suspected of criminal activity and typically holds them for up to 48 hours, was found to have several deficiencies according to the official report. A primary safety concern noted by inspectors involved the restraints available for detainees.

These restraints were described as being strong and potentially dangerous, posing risks not only to the detainees but also to the police officers assigned to guard duty. Furthermore, the report highlighted that the overall hygienic conditions within the detention center are substandard. Specific sanitary issues were identified throughout the premises.

In the living quarters, inspectors discovered various food remnants, including discarded yogurt bottles, water bottles, and used paper products. The condition of the sanitary facilities, including the toilets, was also cited as unsatisfactory. The inspection confirmed that the center requires immediate attention regarding maintenance and hygiene protocols.

The findings underscore a need for improvements in facility management to ensure that the environment meets necessary standards for the custody of individuals awaiting processing by the police. The report indicates that the overall state of the detention facility falls below acceptable operational benchmarks.
