The Director of the Public Enterprise for State Roads, Koce Trajanovski, has announced the commencement of construction for the second section of the Skopje-Bllacë highway. Construction is scheduled to begin in August and is projected to take approximately four years to complete. Trajanovski detailed the project’s scope and funding structure.
The new segment of the highway will span 10.5 kilometers. Upon completion, this addition will bring the total length of the route, connecting the Stenkovec junction near Skopje to the border, to 12 kilometers, inclusive of the 1.5 kilometers that were constructed previously. Financially, the undertaking is supported by a combination of funding sources.
The project benefits from a grant totaling 30.8 million euros, supplemented by a loan amounting to 167.6 million euros. The announcement confirms that these substantial investments are earmarked for the development of this critical infrastructure link. The allocated funds are designated specifically for the construction of the 10.5-kilometer extension.
This expansion is intended to improve connectivity and efficiency along the primary transport corridor between Skopje and the border crossing. The successful execution of this multi-year project is anticipated to significantly enhance regional transit capabilities, solidifying the improved access provided by the expanded highway.
