This week marks the commencement of construction adjacent to the Tetovo Municipality building, initiating the development of a new facility designed to accommodate the administrative needs of the local government. The ambitious project, valued at roughly 1.4 million euros, is entirely financed by the municipality itself. The initiative aims to expand the space available for the municipal administration.
Mayor Bilall Kasami initially envisioned constructing the building without direct budgetary allocation, utilizing land compensation provided to the construction company. “Our initial concept involved a public-private partnership, where the municipality would offer land elsewhere and oversee the construction of the municipal building,” Kasami explained. However, legal considerations ultimately led to a shift in strategy.
It was determined that direct land compensation for a building project was legally prohibited. Consequently, the decision was made to proceed through a tender process. Now, the construction is progressing forward, funded entirely by the municipality’s resources.
This careful approach ensures compliance with regulations while delivering a vital new building for the local government. The project represents a significant investment by the municipality, solidifying its commitment to supporting the administrative functions within the Tetovo region.
