On Wednesday, an incident involving suspected counterfeit currency was reported at the police station located on “Ekrem Rexha” street in Prizren. The report details the submission of a sum totaling 782 euro by a local bank employee. According to police records, the complainant, a Kosovar male employed by a bank, handed over the money on July 8, 2026.
The submitted funds consisted of a variety of denominations, including two 200 euro banknotes, three 50 euro banknotes, two 20 euro banknotes, one 10 euro banknote, eighty-two two-euro coins, and twenty-two one-euro coins. The employee reported to authorities that the entire collection of currency was suspected to be counterfeit. Upon receiving the funds, law enforcement officials immediately seized the money.
Following standard procedure, the case has been officially initiated in consultation with the public prosecutor’s office and remains active under ongoing investigation. The seizure of the 782 euro sum underscores the ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud in the region. Authorities are currently examining the composition and source of the suspect banknotes and coins to determine the scope of the forgery.
