Hristijan Mickoski, speaking on behalf of the LSDM, questioned the government’s claims regarding the nation’s inflation rates. According to the LSDM, the reality faced by citizens differs significantly from statistical reports, suggesting that daily life is determined more by wages and purchasing power than by official figures. While acknowledging potential decreases in inflation, the LSDM asserted that the cost of a standard consumer basket remains challenging to manage.
Furthermore, the party contended that current inflation levels substantially exceed the projections made in the government’s program and the 2026 budget. The LSDM highlighted that the costs of essential goods have remained elevated, while wages are reportedly among the lowest in Europe. Specifically, they pointed out that Macedonia’s minimum wage falls considerably below that of neighboring countries, and the average wage is deemed insufficient for maintaining a normal standard of living.
Adding to these concerns, the LSDM noted a significant decline in foreign investments, which they stated has dropped by over 60%. These statements represent a critique of the current government’s economic narrative, emphasizing the gap between reported macroeconomic data and the lived economic experience of the populace.
