BDI: In the Ministry of Defence, 10 out of 10 directors are Macedonian, a serious alarm regarding the exclusion of Albanians from the security system

According to a press pool citing BDI, official data released by the Ministry of Defence indicates a significant disparity in directorial representation within the governmental body. The data reportedly shows that ten of the directors within the ministry are Macedonian nationals, while no Albanian individual currently occupies a directorial position. BDI has stated that this distribution represents a challenge to the principle of equitable representation, which it views as fundamental to maintaining institutional stability and positive inter-ethnic relations within the country.

The organization emphasized that the security and defense sector, by its nature, requires a foundation of mutual trust, balance, and the inclusion of all constituent communities. The critique suggests that excluding members of the Albanian community from the highest levels of strategic decision-making within the defense ministry compromises this necessary trust. BDI argues that such underrepresentation fosters a sense of marginalization and consequently diminishes the multi-ethnic character of institutions responsible for the safety and security of all citizens.

The findings prompt a discussion regarding the composition of leadership roles within the defense establishment. Maintaining a balanced representation, according to BDI’s assessment, is critical for upholding the institutional integrity and ensuring that the strategic directives issued by the ministry reflect the broader national composition.
