The Kosovo Mountain Rescue Service (ShKShMK) responded on Tuesday to a critical situation involving multiple people stranded along the Kullë–Rozhajë regional road. Heavy snowfall had effectively shut down the border section between Kosovo and Montenegro, trapping travelers in the area. A Kosovar family, consisting of three children, was among those left isolated after remaining in the storm for several hours.
The ShKShMK team dispatched from the Pejë station swiftly mobilized, deploying personnel and specialized equipment, notably a motorcycle, to the affected location. Rescue technicians quickly evaluated the health of the stranded family and then safely evacuated them to the secure zone established at the Kullë Border Crossing. This ensured the well-being of the vulnerable individuals.
Furthermore, the rescue service extended assistance to other individuals impacted by the weather conditions. A truck driver from Montenegro was also among those requiring help. The ShKShMK’s rapid response and efficient operation were crucial in mitigating the risks faced by those stranded due to the severe weather.
