Bujar Haradinaj, a veteran of the Kosovo Liberation Army, faced a harrowing battle for survival after sustaining severe injuries. The former KLA member, who endured 18 wounds, received intensive medical care as doctors worked tirelessly to save his life. Despite the critical nature of his wounds stemming from the fight for Kosovo’s independence, many initially doubted his chances of recovery.
Speaking to KosovaPress, Haradinaj recounted the traumatic events that unfolded during the conflict. He described the significant injuries he sustained while operating within the Dukagjin Operational Zone. On June 6, 1999, he received twelve wounds concurrently as part of a major offensive.
The situation was so dire that three graves were prepared, one of which was intended for him. Haradinaj explained that he was effectively deceased by June 6th, 1999, following the receipt of the initial twelve wounds. This massive offensive occurred six days earlier, resulting in the deaths of two fellow comrades.
These injuries underscore the brutal realities of the struggle during that period.
