Complaint regarding excessive prices, Kaçaniku: The government should not evade its obligations towards consumers.

On World Consumer Day, significant worries have emerged regarding escalating prices across Kosovo. The ongoing market instability and a surge in citizen complaints concerning the cost of living are causing considerable distress. Numerous individuals are struggling to manage their daily expenses due to fluctuating prices.

Representatives from civil society and ordinary citizens have voiced their concerns about the lack of control within the Kosovan market. They highlight the instability experienced by consumers and the difficulty in meeting basic needs. The situation is particularly acute given the rising costs of essential goods and services.

Chairman Selatin Kaçaniku of the “Consumer” Association emphasized the critical link between institutional obligations and consumer understanding. He asserted that the government’s commitment to protecting consumers directly impacts the level of information and awareness within the country. Kaçaniku strongly urged the government to fulfill its responsibilities towards citizens.

He specifically called for the appointment of a consumer protection minister, arguing that this would significantly bolster consumer safeguards. The association’s complaint centers on the need for stronger governmental intervention to address these escalating prices and support vulnerable consumers.
