The recent adjustments represent a significant shift in payment values across Kosovo during this Ramadan. The overall increase stands at 70 percent, with the average rising to 100 percent and the maximum reaching 50 percent. These changes have directly impacted the monetary amounts associated with religious obligations.
Previously, payments were distributed in denominations of 3, 5, and 10 euros. Now, they are set at 5, 10, and 15 euros. This alteration was determined by the Islamic Community of Kosovo, the governing body responsible for establishing the rates and values of these religious duties for its members.
Professor Bahri Hoxha, authorized by the BIK to comment on the decision for KosovaPress, explained the rationale. He stated that the shift is linked to the evolving standard of living. “The standard, encompassing not only prices but overall living costs, has increased.
Consequently, the institution has adjusted its offerings to reflect this enhanced standard, providing more based on individual circumstances.”
This decision reflects the institution’s commitment to adapting to the changing needs of the community during Ramadan in Kosovo.
