Eighty-nine rural women in Mitrovica, Istog, and Skenderaj are receiving agricultural equipment from FAO and UN Women.

Ninety-nine women residing in the rural regions of the Istog, Skenderaj, and South Mitrovica municipalities have been provided with agricultural equipment as part of the “Promoting Rural Women’s Empowerment in Kosovo” project. The total value of this initiative is 113,000 euros. The project is being implemented collaboratively by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and UN Women, with crucial financial backing from the Austrian Development Agency.

This week saw the distribution of the equipment across the three selected municipalities. The event involved the participating women, representatives from local institutions, and key partner organizations. Mayor Ilir Ferati of Istog, Mayor Sami Lushtaku of Skenderaj, and Mayor Faton Peci of South Mitrovica all highlighted the significance of supporting women within the agricultural sector.

Each of the women received essential equipment to enhance their rural livelihoods. These investments are designed to foster new opportunities for women in agriculture. The project underscores the importance of empowering women in these communities and strengthening their role in local economies.

The collaboration between international organizations and local authorities demonstrates a commitment to sustainable development and the advancement of rural women.
