Foreign nationals are hereby notified of the new border regulations.

The Ministry of Interior has declared it will fully enforce the Law on Foreigners and the Vehicle Law, following statements made yesterday by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the EU’s Special Representative, Peter Sorensen. This action signifies a significant shift in regulations concerning individuals entering and residing within Kosovo. Police officers have communicated these updated procedures to foreign nationals currently at the Dheu i Bardhë border crossing.

Starting next Monday, all applications for residency permits and address registrations will be processed at every border point throughout the nation. This policy change has, unfortunately, met with resistance from those affected. A foreign citizen present at the Dheu i Bardhë crossing expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “The police informed us that they allow us to stay in Kosovo for 90 days.

It is not fair; we often visit family, we contribute to this country, I believe it is not fair.”

The government’s intention is to establish clearer guidelines for foreign nationals. However, the reaction at the border highlights concerns about the impact of these new regulations on individuals who frequently visit and contribute to the country. The Ministry remains committed to ensuring compliance with the updated legislation.
