Since February 2022, roughly 400,000 articles in Albanian have been released detailing the war in Ukraine and associated events surrounding Russia. A detailed examination of this daily flow of information uncovered a consistent problem within the Kosovar public sphere. The public frequently encountered inaccurate and incomplete information, often laced with deliberate misinformation regarding these complex events.
A considerable amount of the published material consisted of copied and pasted content, lacking crucial context concerning the ongoing war and its evolving developments. This practice significantly undermined the quality of the information being disseminated. Furthermore, numerous news stories focusing on Serbian matters within Kosovo were directly replicated from Serbian sources.
These stories frequently originated within Albanian media outlets and were subsequently republished by Kosovan media, perpetuating the issue. Kreshnik Gashi, a managing editor at KALLXO.com, asserted that Russian influence within the Balkans has established itself with considerable depth. The spread of this information related to the war and its surrounding events highlights a critical concern.
