Israel is expanding its territorial claims in southern Lebanon.

Israel is intensifying its ground activities in southern Lebanon. Reuters reported on Monday that the nation had moved into previously unexplored regions of southern Lebanon. Israeli forces were deployed to engage Hezbollah targets, supported by Iranian backing.

Lieutenant-Colonel Nadav Shoshani, a spokesperson for the Israeli military, addressed the media during a press conference. He stated that soldiers were present in “new locations where our forces did not operate yesterday.” Shoshani characterized the ongoing ground operation as “limited and targeted,” deliberately omitting specifics regarding the extent of troop advancement within Lebanon. He did not disclose information about whether new territories would be captured.

Since the November 2024 ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, israel has maintained five operational bases in southern Lebanon. Following a significant event, additional military personnel were dispatched. The operation’s purpose is to counter Hezbollah’s influence and disrupt their activities.

The Israeli military continues to operate in southern Lebanon, responding to ongoing security concerns.
