Kryeziu stated that the President possessed a constitutional duty regarding the distribution of parliamentary seats.

Former Constitutional Court judge, Kadri Kryeziu, asserted that the president’s recent decree concerning parliament’s distribution was firmly rooted in the constitution and represented a fundamental constitutional duty of the president’s institution. Kryeziu clarified that the president’s involvement in this specific process is unequivocally defined and precisely outlined by the constitutional framework. He emphasized the need for Kosovo to proceed with elections, highlighting the parliament’s inability to elect a president.

“According to the constitution, the president is the designated authority responsible for constitutionally distributing parliament and announcing elections,” Kryeziu explained during an “Përballje Podcast” interview with Telegrafi’s editor-in-chief, Muhamet Hajrullahu. Kryeziu underscored that this action isn’t driven by political inclination, but rather a strict constitutional obligation that must be fulfilled under specific conditions. The judge’s comments reinforce the president’s established role as the sole decision-maker in this critical area, as defined by the legal document.

Ultimately, Kryeziu believes this constitutional duty must be honored.
