Czech authorities are now treating the fire at the industrial complex as a deliberate act, according to statements released on Friday. This follows reports detailing a protest group’s claim of responsibility for the incident. Firefighters initially responded to a blaze in a storage hall within the Pardubice complex, situated roughly 120 kilometers east of Prague, early Friday morning.
The fire rapidly spread to an adjacent building. Thankfully, the event resulted in no injuries. The Czech news portal, Aktualne.cz, reported that the group, known as “Earthquake Faction,” asserted they had set fire to the complex’s “key production center for Israeli weapons” in Pardubice.
Their motive was to disrupt the facility’s contribution to “genocide in Gaza.”
The group specified they selected the night for the action, noting the absence of personnel within the factory. The investigation by the czech authorities is ongoing, focusing on this deliberate fire. The incident highlights the escalating tensions surrounding the conflict in Gaza and the actions of groups seeking to disrupt arms production.
