Samsung is undertaking a strategic shift in its screen supply chain, according to a new report originating from South Korea. This move involves a change in sourcing for several mid-range devices. The company will no longer procure displays from its own Samsung Display division.
Instead, Samsung is opting to purchase panels from CSOT, a company owned by TCL. These CSOT panels offer a significant cost advantage, with prices estimated to be at least 20% lower than those provided by Samsung’s internal division. Industry observers suggest this decision is primarily driven by an effort to mitigate rising expenses associated with memory costs.
Reducing the cost of other mid-range devices is a key component of this strategy. Telegrafi reports that Samsung has already placed an order for 15 million screen panels from CSOT. These panels will be utilized in the forthcoming Galaxy A57 smartphone.
Furthermore, they will also be incorporated into several unidentified “FE” (Fan Edition) phones, with production slated to commence in April (potentially the Galaxy S26 FE). As anticipated, Samsung Display will continue its operations.
