Satellite imagery reveals a cargo ship ablaze in the Strait of Hormuz.

A cargo ship engulfed in flames was identified through satellite imagery. News of the incident, reported by Gazeta Express on March 19, 2026, at 8:08 AM, highlighted a concerning situation. Analysis of satellite imagery taken on March 18th revealed substantial smoke emanating from the container ship Safeen Prestige, a vessel registered under the Maltese flag.

The 175-meter ship was positioned roughly 4.5 nautical miles east of Ras Makhbuq, Oman, as indicated by data from the European Space Agency. The United Kingdom Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed that the Safeen Prestige had been hit by a missile on March 4th, resulting in a fire within the engine room.
