Supply of natural gas from Iraq to Iran has been halted following attacks.

The flow of natural gas from Iraq to Iran has abruptly stopped due to ongoing attacks. A recent report, released by the Iraqi Electricity Ministry and detailed in Iraqi media outlets, indicates that Iranian gas imports have ceased because of assaults targeting Iranian gas infrastructure. This disruption significantly impacts Iraq’s energy requirements.

Currently, Iraq relies on Iran for over a third of its gas and energy needs, as confirmed by Reuters. The situation underscores a critical vulnerability in Iraq’s energy supply chain. Ministry of Electricity spokesperson Ahmed Moussa stated, “Due to the repercussions of regional events, Iranian gas flows to Iraq have been entirely halted.”

The Iraqi News Agency relayed Moussa’s comments, emphasizing the severity of the interruption.

The cessation of gas deliveries from iran represents a considerable challenge for Iraq, which has long depended on this source. The ongoing attacks have directly caused the complete cessation of Iranian gas shipments to Iraq. This situation highlights the instability affecting energy trade within the region.
