Tahiri asserted that the Western Balkans is actively pursuing strategies to mitigate the escalating prices impacting the area. However, Kosovo remains unresponsive and unsuccessful in tackling the significant economic crisis and the surge in costs. He communicated his concerns via a Facebook post, describing the situation as Kosovo being “asleep.”
He questioned the inaction of the Kosovar government, noting that neighboring nations are implementing measures.
“The region is acting, Europe is intervening, why is Kosovo sleeping?” Tahiri emphasized the urgency. According to Tahiri, the Kosovar government urgently needs to initiate tangible steps tomorrow to directly address the serious economic crisis and the increasing costs. He characterized the situation as alarming, highlighting the need for immediate action.
Tahiri specifically referenced North Macedonia, another regional state and EU member, as an example of a country taking effective measures. Despite possessing the lowest fuel prices within the region – at 1.50 – North Macedonia is demonstrating proactive engagement. The focus remains on Kosovo’s apparent lack of response to the rising economic pressures.
