The Chinese-supplied weaponry purchased by Serbia is aggressive and poses a threat to the region.

Kosovë’s Defense Minister, Ejup Madevci, has voiced serious concerns regarding Serbia’s recent acquisition of ballistic missiles from China. He asserts that these weapons possess a hostile nature and pose a significant threat, not just to Kosovo, but to the entire Balkan region. Speaking to journalist Bruna Çifligu on A2 CNN’s “Puls” program, Madevci emphasized that Serbia’s purchase is not a novel development.

He noted that Belgrade has consistently procured weaponry from diverse sources for years. “In fact, the purchase of these systems is not happening only recently,” Madevci explained. He highlighted a long-standing pattern of Serbian arms acquisitions, detailing purchases from Russia, China, and other nations.

“We have information that for several years it has made purchases of different missiles from China,” he added. Madevci’s comments underscore a persistent issue. The minister’s statements suggest that Serbia’s actions represent a continuation of a strategy to bolster its military capabilities.

It is clear that Serbia is not shying away from acquiring weaponry. This ongoing effort raises considerable security implications for the area.
