The Kosovar sociologist states: Society is in collective depression, and the lack of social control is leading to an escalation of violence.

The sociologist Jeton Brajshori addressed the escalating violence in Kosovo during a discussion on TV Dukagjini’s “FIVE” program on March 24th, 2026. He highlighted the concerning surge in criminal activity following recent events. Specifically, he referenced the tragic deaths in Majac, Podujeva, where three individuals were murdered just a day prior.

Brajshori reported a disturbing week marked by multiple murders. “Within the week we had five murders,” he stated. These incidents occurred in various locations, including Gjakeve and Kline.

Furthermore, the sociologist detailed a separate case involving two murders and a suicide. He attributed these alarming developments to a fundamental weakening of social control. This decline has manifested within families, educational institutions, and local communities.

Brajshori emphasized that these factors are significantly contributing to a deeply troubling and painful situation for Kosovan society. The sociologist’s analysis underscores the urgent need to address the root causes of this escalating violence and restore a sense of security and order.
