The Republic of Macedonia possesses the lowest fuel prices in the area. There is no crisis situation necessitating a reduction in excise duties.

The OBRM-PDUKM party issued a forceful response to SDSM’s announcements concerning falling fuel prices, criticizing the opposition’s approach as a mere publicity campaign. The ruling party contends that SDSM’s strategy, characterized by repeated press conferences, lacks substance and concrete legal proposals. They argue that if SDSM were genuinely committed to addressing the issue, they would have immediately presented draft legislation to Parliament.

Instead, the party points to SDSM’s actions as akin to “promoting a Haris Zhinoviqi concert,” through lengthy, five-day press conferences. The OBRM-PDUKM maintains that SDSM’s demand for a four-dinar reduction in excise taxes is not justified. The party stresses that the necessary legal conditions for such a decrease have not been satisfied.

Specifically, they highlight that existing laws mandate excise tax reductions only in instances of a crisis or extraordinary circumstances. Therefore, the party believes that the current situation does not warrant such a measure regarding fuel prices. The OBRM-PDUKM insists on a more systematic and legally sound approach to addressing concerns about rising fuel prices.
