Thirteen infected animals are euthanized, and the AUV intensifies measures against zoonotic diseases.

Today, one hundred animals were euthanized on a farm located in Vitishtë Lubishtë, a measure taken to avert the propagation of infectious diseases within livestock populations. The announcement was made by Bafti Murati, the head of the Animal Health Sector at the Food and Veterinary Agency. He underscored the critical importance of early detection, noting that the situation was initially identified as early as December through laboratory analyses performed by AUV.

Murati explained that the delays in removing the affected animals stemmed from the procurement process for selecting the appropriate company to handle the operation. “The deadline for intervention was roughly one month, but without a finalized contract with the economic operator, there were unavoidable setbacks,” he stated. Immediately following the contract’s signing, the Veterinary Inspectorate commenced its work.

This action reflects a proactive approach to safeguarding animal health and preventing further outbreaks among the animals. The agency continues to monitor the situation closely.
