Violations of journalists’ rights in the workplace are presented in the manual “From Law to Practice.”

The core issue explored in the presentation of the guide, “Worker’s Rights in the Media, from Law to Practice,” spearheaded by the Kosovo Journalists’ Association (KJA) and the Kosovo Stability Institute (KSI), centered on how reporters should address abuses experienced within their workplaces, particularly when they themselves are targets of wrongdoing. Brikena Berisha from KSI emphasized the urgent need to examine the pressures faced by journalists while on the job. This encompasses instances of schedule infringements, sexual harassment, and a range of other concerning situations.

The KSI’s research indicated that individuals, specifically journalists, maintain a secure position if they report these rights violations to fellow reporters and media organizations. This discovery prompted a collaborative effort between KSI and KJA, resulting in a professional partnership focused on journalist training. The aim was to equip reporters with the knowledge necessary to understand and defend their rights.

The manual provides a practical framework for addressing violations, ensuring journalists are aware of their protections and empowered to report abuses effectively. The focus remains on safeguarding the rights of journalists and promoting a safe working environment within the media sector.
