156 pages of text and dozens of hours of recordings are presented to the court for “Banjska,” the Serbian defendant’s lawyers argue they are inadmissible as evidence.

Defense Challenges Evidence in ‘Banjska’ Case

Pristina, Kosovo – The trial for those accused in connection with the September 2023 attack in Banjska commenced today at the Basic Court in Pristina, under stringent security protocols. Blagoje Spasojeviq, Vladimir Toliq, and Dushan Maksimoviq, the individuals formally charged, appeared before the court. They face accusations related to the events surrounding the Banjska incident.

During the initial defense statements, Blagoje Spasojeviq’s closing remarks were delivered by lawyer Ljubomir Pantoviq. Pantoviq argued that the evidence presented by the prosecution – encompassing 156 pages of text and numerous recordings – is inadmissible for the indictment. Spasojeviq stated that he had contemplated accepting a plea, but ultimately maintained he does not identify as a “terrorist.” The court is now proceeding with the examination of evidence and the presentation of arguments from both the prosecution and the defense in the Banjska case.

The proceedings are taking place within the context of ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the attack. The accused remain formally charged pending further legal proceedings.
