47 cases with flu in Kosovo, IKShPK calls for child vaccination

The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo (IKShPK) has reported the incidence of measles across the country for the period spanning April 16 to June 29, 2026. During this timeframe, a total of 47 confirmed cases of measles were recorded in Kosovo. The data provided by the institute details the distribution of these cases among various local administrative units.

According to the breakdown by municipality, the Municipality of Pristina reported the highest number of cases with fourteen instances. This was followed by the Municipality of Ferizaj, which reported twelve cases. Kaçani recorded six cases, while the Municipality of Lushnjë-Kosovo reported three.

Additionally, Lipjan, Vushtrri, Shtime, and Obiliq each reported two cases. Four other municipalities—Gjilan, Drenica, Deçani, and Viti—each registered one confirmed case. In light of these reported cases, IKShPK issued a public health recommendation for vigilance.

The institute advises that any individual presenting with symptoms suggestive of measles should seek immediate medical attention at the nearest health facility. These potential symptoms include, but are not limited to, high fever, skin rashes or changes, persistent cough, runny nose, or conjunctivitis. Prompt reporting of such symptoms is crucial for effective public health monitoring and control measures across the municipality.
