In a short message on Truth Social, former U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated what he termed “a historic day for Lebanon” following the establishment of a ten-day truce between Israel and Lebanon. This outcome materialized after meetings involving President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, facilitated by the American president’s involvement.
Trump announced the agreement, stating it was reached through discussions with both leaders. However, only a few hours after the apparent halt to fighting, the Lebanese army leveled accusations of “violations” against Israel, concerning the ceasefire. Trump responded by outlining a plan for continued progress.
Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will now collaborate with both nations to secure a durable peace. The United States has also communicated six key elements of the Israel-Lebanon ceasefire arrangement. The cessation of hostilities is scheduled to conclude at 17:00 EST (23:00 GMT).
The situation remains delicate, with ongoing efforts focused on ensuring stability and preventing further escalation in the region, particularly concerning Lebanon. Trump’s administration is actively engaged in fostering a long-term resolution between Israel and Lebanon.
