Mickoski: All those who are against the higher education law in fact fear the new criteria for selection in degrees

Mickoski Attributes Opposition to Higher Education Law to Fear of New Criteria

Skopje – Prime Minister Hristjan Mickoski addressed concerns surrounding the recently proposed Higher Education Law today, attributing opposition to anxieties regarding the revised selection criteria for university programs. Responding to a journalist’s inquiry, Mickoski asserted that those voicing criticism of the law are, in essence, fearful of the changes. “Yes,” Mickoski stated.

“First of all, I want to express my satisfaction with the event held yesterday at the Government, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science. The event included the media and the rectors of the state universities, and all present offered their support for the law.”

Mickoski characterized public opposition as “political speculation,” suggesting that critics are attempting to manipulate the narrative. He pointed to the visible support of the state university rectors at yesterday’s event, indicating a reluctance to embrace the new standards.

The Higher Education Law aims to establish new criteria for student admission into higher education programs. The Prime Minister emphasized that all stakeholders recognize the importance of this law in reforming the education system. He maintained that the changes are intended to promote academic rigor and ensure the best candidates are selected for university programs.
