Albanian Football Federation Addresses National Team Finances and Coaching Plans

TIRANA – Armand Duka, President of the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF), held a press conference on Friday to address ongoing concerns regarding the national team’s bank account and coaching arrangements. Duka clarified the timeline surrounding the contract of coach Sylvinho, explaining that the agreement was initially slated to conclude in June, not March, as had been previously reported. A key element of the discussion centered on the approach taken to secure a head coach.

The FSHF had reportedly offered the position to former Albanian legend, Besnik Hasi. However, Hasi subsequently withdrew his interest, opting to accept a management role with Anderlecht. “We had agreed by December to begin discussions,” Duka stated.

“The delay in finalizing a contract until March was deemed necessary to avoid demotivating the team, particularly as it followed the Play-Off matches.”

When questioned about the possibility of Hasi returning to manage the Albanian national team, the former player offered a cautious response. “Perhaps the contract at the beginning of it should have been at the end of the Play-Off matches,” he commented. “We were aiming to secure a decision before March.”

The FSHF continues to manage the finances of the national team, and Duka emphasized the organization’s commitment to transparency moving forward.
