ZEKOLLI SIGURON: “CORRIDORS 8” WILL HAVE A RELEASE IN ALBANIA

Zekolli Confirms Albania’s Role in Corridor 8 Development

Albania is set to play a key role in the development of Corridor 8, according to Transport Deputy Minister Kaltrina Zekolli. Speaking on April 17, 2026, Zekolli stated that an exit for the corridor will be established within Albania, a certainty she emphasized. Currently, representatives from UNESCO are anticipated to arrive to address potential challenges and explore solutions related to the project’s route.

Zekolli indicated that the initial focus for the first half of 2026 will be on evaluating alternative plans should the existing route prove insufficiently developed. Ongoing work is progressing across all segments of Corridor 8, with particular attention being given to the Trebenisht-Qafthanë section. Prime Minister announcements in May confirmed the invitation of UNESCO representatives to investigate solutions for this specific segment.

A final report is scheduled for completion in June, following which the Ministry will assess available alternatives and potential implementation modalities. The project’s advancement remains a priority, with Zekolli’s comments highlighting Albania’s contribution to this significant infrastructure development.
