Hoti: The energy sector has been a complete chaos during this term – it has been scapegoated with many scandals.

Hoti Criticizes Energy Sector Decisions During Previous Mandate

Former Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, now an MP for the LDK, has voiced strong criticism of the management of the energy sector during his time in office. Speaking on EURO n’T7, Hoti characterized the period as “total chaos,” citing a series of decisions that he believes significantly impacted the country’s energy landscape. Hoti specifically highlighted the cancellation of several strategic projects, including the “New Kosovo” initiative and a collaborative American gas project.

He argued that these cancellations fostered a heightened reliance on energy imports and contributed to sustained increases in electricity prices for Kosovar consumers. “If the ‘New Kosovo’ project and the gas project were to continue today, we would have new energy capacities in Kosovo, they would have been built, they would have been operational,” Hoti stated. The former Prime Minister’s comments underscore ongoing concerns regarding the stability and development of the energy sector within Kosovo.

The discussion centers around the consequences of prioritizing project cancellations and their impact on long-term energy security.
