State-owned Iranian media: Reports of new talks in Pakistan ‘are not true’

Iranian State Denies Reported Talks in Pakistan

TEHRAN – The Iranian state news agency, IRNA, has dismissed reports of forthcoming talks between Iran and the United States, taking place in Pakistan. IRNA stated that these reports are inaccurate and unfounded. The agency accuses the US of presenting “excessive demands” and exhibiting inconsistent policy, frequently altering its negotiating position.

IRNA further cited the ongoing US blockade of Iranian ports and what it describes as “threatening rhetoric” as significant obstacles to any potential progress. According to a Telegram post attributed to an unnamed source, “Under these circumstances, there is no bright prospect for fruitful negotiations.” This statement was not attributed to any specific official or institution, as reported by BBC News. The denial comes after similar statements were issued by two Iranian media outlets connected to the Armed Forces.

The Iranian state’s position reflects a continued skepticism regarding the possibility of renewed diplomatic engagement with the United States, given the current geopolitical landscape. The reports highlight ongoing tensions surrounding sanctions and diplomatic strategy.
